Silvia se convirtió en reina estudiantil de México y conoció al actor y director cubano Rafael Banquells, quien la incluyó en varias de sus obras de teatro. Rafael y Silvia se enamoraron y se casaron. Pinal tenía sólo 17 años y al poco tiempo se convirtió en madre de su primera hija Silvia Pasquel.
