When fans heard that Netflix was bringing us (and, more importantly, the original cast of Gilmore Girls) back to Stars Hollow, one of the first and most persistent questions was about Rory Gilmore's love life. Now, we have our answers (and we're going to talk about them here, so, you know, spoiler alert for those who haven't binged every episode of Gilmore Girls and A Year in the Life yet).
At the end of the original series, Rory is single. She's just graduated from Yale, rejected Logan Huntzberger's marriage proposal, and is getting set to hit the road covering the Obama campaign. This was in
When we meet Rory again in , she's seeing someonekind of. I say "kind of," not because it's not a real relationship (it is—they've been together for two years in the first A Year in the Life episode, "Winter"), but because Rory never treats it like one. Her boyfriend, Paul, is doting but apparently forgettable. Lorelai and Luke forget that they've met him, Rory forgets that she's invited him to stay with her family, and is only still dating him because she keeps forgetting to break up with him.

Dean from Gilmore Girls Raises Red Flag
Gilmore Girls first aired October 5, The show went on for 7 seasons. Throughout these seasons main character Rory Gilmore has many encounters with her first boyfriend, Dean. For the first 3 seasons, Rory and Dean had a relationship. But was he really someone that was good for Rory?
The first red flag is after their 3 month anniversary when he told her he loved her. She couldn’t respond. He broke up with her after that.
In Season 2, when Rory wanted some space for a night, Dean stopped by to bring her ice cream. This was a sweet gesture but was better suited for a different time.

Dean continued to show toxic behavior in how he would always yell at Rory when it wasn’t her fault. He often yelled at her in public, which is embarrassing and abusive. Without regard to Rory’s feelings and desire to keep the details of her relationship private, he broke up with her in front of a gy

RORY: I wanna say that Im sorry For treating you the way I did. For doing all the things you said I did. I am so, so sorry. Its all my fault. I dont know whats wrong with me. You were the most amazing boyfriend in the world. You made me so happy. You made me laugh, you made my mother like you, you were nice to my friends, you protected me, you even came with me to that stupid debutante ball I really did love you. I just came to tell you that Im truly sorry that I hurt you, and that Im going to miss you so much, and I just hope that someday you wont hate me anymore.
DEAN: I hope so, too.
Rory apologises to Dean, taking complete responsibility for the relationship failing. Dean, of course, lets her, as a sign he really wasnt the amazing boyfriend she says he was. The rose-coloured glasses seem to have started almost the moment Rory and Dean broke up for the second time, and it is troubling that the first thing she does after kissing her new boyfriend Jess is to tell her old boyfriend how much she misses him.
In an earlier season, Rorys kiss with Tristan helped show he
