Born in Kuwait in , Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Sumait exhibited a passion for learning and a compassionate heart from a young age. He pursued his education with zeal, obtaining a medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland, before furthering his studies in tropical medicine at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.

Founding DirectAid

Driven by a deep sense of empathy and a desire to alleviate the suffering of the less privileged, Dr. Al Sumait co-founded DirectAid in , a Kuwait- based non-profit organization dedicated to humanitarian work in Africa. His vision was to create a lasting impact by providing essential services and sustainable solutions to communities in need.

This organization went on to open offices in 29 countries, and to join the United Nations in as a General Co

Al-Sumait was a qualified doctor specializing in internal diseases and gastroenterology before becoming involved in charity work.

A few days ago the Islamic world has lost a great man and a giant philanthropist with the demise of  Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait, year Kuwaiti leader who dedicated his life to serve humanity and help the poor around the world, particularly in Africa.

Besides deep sorrow and emptiness in hearts of those who know him or know about him, Al-Sumait’s passing has left a living legend in charity and da`wah work as well.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait is the proof that once there were true giants on earth in our time. We pray to the Almighty Allah to forgive him and have mercy on his soul.

Al-Sumait is well known for his charity work all over Muslim countries with a credit history of humanitarian work, impressive devotion to providing care for the poor, orphans and patients around the world.

His works included building hospitals, mosques, care centers, institutes, schools, universities,  shelters, and providing aid for the poor in every single way.

Dr Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait: A Legendary Productive Muslim

I cannot even start describing this legendary personality who lived in our Ummah for the past half century and gave so much for the Ummah’s service.

I’m extremely saddened that we lost him last month after many months of struggling with his disease.

If you don’t know him, I won’t be surprised, since he wasn’t a man of fame or TV shows or websites, but he was a man of action and those who knew him, knew him from his actions.

He was the embodiment of sincere intentions and hard work which resulted in outcomes beyond his or anyone’s expectations.

His name is -Rahman Al-Sumait. An Islamic scholar, medical practitioner, but more importantly, a Humanitarian. He was known to have built hundreds of orphanages, schools, mosques, and amazingly inspired 11 million (yes 11 million!) Africans to convert to Islam.

Who was Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait?

Dr. Abd Al-Rahman bin Hamood Al-Sumait was an Islamic scholar, medical practitioner and Humanitarian from Kuwait.
