On April 15, , Harmony Hall, located in a storefront at 36 South American Street, was founded by Pastor Frank Vanbuskirk and the Haney Family. In , Clyde Haney started the very first bus route while assisting Pastor Vanbuskirk.
On November 1, , this congregation moved into a new church building located at East Willow Street and was now called Pentecostal Harmony Chapel. On November 15, , Clyde Haney became pastor of this church.
In , construction began on a new church building located at East Harding Way. The first service was held in the basement on August 26, The auditorium was completed and held its first service on March 17, The name of the church was also changed to First Pentecostal Church.
In June of , construction began on another new facility located at Cherokee Road. The first services were held in the new sanctuary on September 10,
In , Pastor Clyde Haney was tragically killed in an automobile accident. Several months after his passing, his son Kenneth Haney accepted the pastorate of the First Pentecostal Church.

Joy Leanette McDonald was born April 8, , to T.R. and Margaret McDonald. They received the Holy Ghost and were baptized in Jesus’ name in when he returned home from serving in the US Navy in World War II. They became sold out to God, and they raised their children on prayer and Bible reading, getting them up at AM every morning. This habit has stayed with her, her entire life. They were not only a praying family, but a musical family.
Joy and her two sisters started singing at a young age and were called The McDonald Trio. They sang at every Western District camp meeting and youth camp, church services, on the weekly radio church program, funerals, weddings, and at a General Conference.
Joy attended Western Apostolic Bible College, and one of her instructors was the handsome Kenneth Haney. Not only was he her teacher, but feelings developed between them. Their first date was on December 16, Ten months later, they were married on October 14, They are the parents of five wonderful children: Sherrie, Nathaniel, Stephenie, Elizabeth, and Angela.
