Sestra i brat Janica i Ivica Kostelić naši su najtrofejniji skijaši, a javnosti je dobro poznat i njihov otac Ante Kostelić zvani Gibs, koji ih je odmalena trenirao.
Ljubav prema sportu Antu je spojila i sa suprugom Maricom Kostelić.
Maricom se u mladosti također bavila sportom, točnije rukometom, a Ante ju je upoznao krajem šezdesetih godina prošloga stoljeća, kada je radio kao rukometni trener ženske ekipe u Ivanić Gradu. Nakon što se rodila ljubav između njih dvoje, Ante se rastao od prve supruge, s kojom ima kći Hrvojku, i oženio Maricom.
Ante i Marica dobili su Ivicu studenog godine, a Janica je rođena 5. siječnja godine. Ivica i Janica postali su najbolji skijaši Hrvatske, a Janica je postala najbolja alpska skijašica u povijesti Zimskih Olimpijskih igara.
